AI features & your Anthropic key

Meetingpad uses Claude by Anthropic to draft messaging around your polls. Pro subscribers bring their own Anthropic API key.

What AI drafts

  • Nudge emails — reminder text sent to voters who haven't responded, optionally with new suggested times.
  • Close announcements — the message that becomes the calendar-invite description when you close a poll.
  • Follow-up emails — post-meeting messages with a shared Google Doc, framed for your audience.

Why bring your own key?

You never get a surprise AI bill from us, and your poll content never touches our servers for AI processing — it goes straight from the app to Anthropic under your account. This also lets power users choose their preferred Claude model.

Getting an Anthropic API key

  1. Sign up at console.anthropic.com. Free trial credit included.
  2. Add a payment method (Anthropic bills per token; typical Meetingpad use runs pennies per month).
  3. Create an API key.

Connecting the key to Meetingpad

  1. Menubar → Settings → AI.
  2. Paste your key. It's stored encrypted on our server and only used by our server to call Claude on your behalf when you trigger an AI action.
  3. Optionally pick a Claude model (default: latest Sonnet).

Removing the key

Settings → AI → Remove key. This deletes the encrypted key from our server. AI features stop working until you paste a new one.
